Traffic Building – Are Articles Really Worth Your Time?
By Sean Mize When you started traffic building, you were not really sure who was a good visitor and who was not. You probably tried some forms of bulk traffic and realized that it just doesn’t convert. So you quit using it. But you have spent a lot of time building links, exchanging links, sending traffic through Google, and you are converting some of it. And although those forms of traffic generation are time consuming, they are insidious. Because they don’t feel like hard work. Articles feel like hard work. Because you are creating. You are thinking. You have to plan and write and proofread. But I challenge you to do it. And when you do, do not send your article traffic to your main web page. Instead, send it somewhere different so that you can track the results from your article writing. Article writing is hard enough without thinking in the back of your mind that it really isn’t working. And if you don’t know where your traffic is really coming from, you will be thinking that it might not be working. So tracking is incredibly important. When you get started writing articles, you may be tempted to write 2 or 3 and see what happens. You might as well not write any. I average about 4 subscribers (or 12 visitors) for each article I write, and that is over time. So if you just write 3 articles and get 36 visitors over the course of a month – that is like 1 per day. You can easily conclude that article writing is worthless. But if you write 10 articles a day, everyday, and you get 120 new visitors everyday, on average, over time (they don’t all show up the same day), then you might begin to think that it is worth the couple or three hours a day that it takes to write the articles.
